Mr. Billy F Wix, age 71 of Westmoreland, TN, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019.
Billy was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and true friend. He was a history buff, and a lover of the outdoors, cold beers, and Ken Burns documentaries. He loved to garden, and he loved Bill Elliott. He was singularly clever and a giver of nonsensical nicknames, like the one he gave to his beloved wife of 41 years, “Ruby”. He was a good, liberal Democrat, and a real champion of the “working man”, which he himself faithfully was for more than 30 years. He was wise and thoughtful and a little bit mischievous. He’d rather have been with his dogs than in the company of most people. He got a great kick out of his grandchildren, and was so proud. In his children he instilled kindness, honesty, and the belief that they could do anything and become anything, but also could always come home. People liked him naturally, he didn’t have to make much of an effort. He found God in the things and people and animals he loved. He will he missed unbearably and forever. Billy was preceeded in death by grandparents Ollie and Lillian Wix, mother Nellie Frances Wix, brothers Junior and James Slayton, and sisters Rebecca York and Vada Eden. He is survived by wife Lachelle Wix and children Garry (wife, Stephanie) and LaCosta Wix, grandchildren Isaac, Addison, Aubree Wix and Justin Nokes, brothers Randy and Donald Slayton and sister Catherine Sexton.
