Carol Jean Akins

Carol Jean Akins, age 77, of Bethpage, TN, passed away December 16, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Thomas Whited and Sadie Louise Adcock; husband, Harold Dorris Akins; her sisters, Francis Roark and Dot Carver.

She is survived by her children, Kim (Morris) Hogue of Scottsville, KY and Tonya (Jesse) Hodges of Bastrop, TX; her grandchildren, Cortney (Larry) Dunn of Chatsworth, GA, Justin (Aleisha) Thompson of Westmoreland, TN, Chelsea (Trevor) Jones of Hartsville, TN, Cherokee Leeds of Sulphur, LA and Tiffany (Lance) Aubin of Adolphus, KY; her six great-grandchildren; her sisters, Nancy (John) Smith of Westmoreland, TN, Linda Jones of Pleasant Shade, TN and Shirley (Steve) Sadler of Tulsa, OK; her brother, Tommy (Sharon) Whited of Westmoreland, TN; as well as a host of loving family and friends.

Carol was a member of Providence General Baptist Church.

The funeral service for Ms. Akins will be conducted on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11AM from the chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Duffer and Bro. Clayton Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Providence Cemetery.  Serving as active pallbearers will be Kelcey Carver, Wendell Carver, Tim Rittenberry, Trevor Jones, Larry Dunn and Lance Aubin.  

The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 20th from 3PM till 8PM and again on Saturday, December 21st from 9AM till service time at 11AM at Woodard Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family request you make donations to St. Jude's Hospital or Vanderbilt Children's Monroe Carroll, Jr Hospital. These can be made at the office of Woodard Funeral Home.

The family has entrusted Woodard Funeral Home with the care of their loved one.
