Derotha Kathleen Thompson

Mrs. Derotha Thompson, age 86, of Bethpage, TN passed away on October 5, 2024. She was born November 12, 1937 to the late Roscoe and Okie Lou Eden Doss in Macon County, TN.

Mrs. Derotha is survived by her sons, Roger Dale Thompson and Richard Allen "Rat" Thompson (Susie); her grandchildren, Matthew Scott Thompson, Christopher Justin Thompson, Aleisha Thompson and Robert Noah Thompson; her great-grandchildren, Case Neyland Thompson and Aida Mae Thompson; and a host of loving friends and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Guthrie Thompson; and her son, Ricky Lynn Thompson.

Derotha was saved as a young nine year old girl at Leath's Chapel Methodist Church. She later joined and was baptized into Buffalo Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

At the time of her passing, she was a member of Rock Bridge Missionary Baptist Church.

Not only was she a humble and God fearing woman, Derotha was a faithful minister's wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She loved and enjoyed gospel music, old fashion preaching, visits to the mountains, reading, sewing, flowers, buttermilk cornbread and word searches.

She dearly loved her children, grandkids and great-kids and she will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved her.

The funeral service for Mrs. Derotha Thompson will be held on Thursday, at 1:00 PM at Woodard Funeral Home with Elder Frank Kirby and Bro. Steve Johns officiating. Interment will follow in Bradley Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Justin, Matt and Noah Thompson and Gary, Trevor and Troy Adcock. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Roger Akins.

Visitation with family: Wednesday, October 9, from 12:00 - 8:00 PM and Thursday, October 10, from 9:00 AM - service time 1:00 PM at Woodard Funeral Home.

The family have entrusted Woodard Funeral Home with the care of their loved one.
