Emma Dean Albert-Wix, (known to most as Momma Dean Wix) born August 26, 1933 to William Ben Albert and Rosa Lee Ragland-Albert, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018 with family and friends surrounding.
Born in White House, Tennessee, Mrs. Wix was one of the founding leaders of the White House Brownie Troop and continued to support the organization throughout her life. She was a graduate of White House High School. As a stay-at-home mom, Mrs. Wix volunteered within the community and was an avid train and railroad memorabilia collector. In 1992, with her daughter, Jacqueline, she started several business ventures in Nashville, Tennessee. This included the Anyway Mailing Service, which was a printing and mailing company. After her retirement, she enjoyed many community social groups such as the Westmoreland Red Hat Society and she loved to travel throughout the United States and enjoyed international travel. She was also a member of the MDA Association and she loved flower gardening and collecting Denim Day figurines.
As a member and Sunday school teacher in the Church of Christ, Mrs. Wix was a daily Bible reader and loved attending worship at Old Union Church of Christ in Castalian Springs, Tennessee. She also attended the Westmoreland Church of Christ.
Mrs. Wix is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, J.D. Wix; her only grandson, Justin Dean Watkins; her siblings, J.T. Albert, William Herman “Pat” Albert, Ewin Wesley Albert, and Vera Mae Albert; and her travelling buddies, Francis Jiles and Eva Nell Harrison.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline & (Paul, Jr.) Wix-Roberson of Westmoreland, TN and Evonna & (Tom) Wix-Sharp of Somerville, AL; her step-grandson, Al Roberson of Nashville, TN; her sister-in-laws, Geneva Albert-Somerville of Springfield, TN, Brenda Wix of Westmoreland, TN, Barbara & (Ronald) Smith of Russell Hill, TN, Shirley & (Raydean) “Curly” Carter of Murfreesboro, TN, Melba Carter & (Lyn) Beasley of Castalian Springs, TN, Peggy Fannin of Nashville, TN, Carolyn Wix of Lapel, IN and Rachel Wix of Celina, TN; her brother-in-laws, Jerry & (Judy) Wix, of Westmoreland, TN, Fred & (Patricia) Wix of Tuscaloosa, AL, Maxie & (Pat) Wix of Florida, and David & (Nancy) Wix of Lafayette, TN; her special nephew, Billy & (Lachelle) Wix of Westmoreland, TN; her special niece, Debbie & (Jim) Carter Lindsey of Murfreesboro, TN; her bestest bud, Tammy Jenkins of Westmoreland, TN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many loving caregivers and special friends, Ray and Ben Ragland.
Funeral services for Ms. Wix will be conducted on Friday, July 6th at 3PM from the chapel of Woodard Funeral Home, with Bro. Doyle Farris, Bro. David Gurchett, and Bro. Steven Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Pike Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, July 5th from 11AM-9PM and again on Friday, July 6th from 10AM-service time at 3PM at Woodard FH.
