Lassie Viola Rippy

On January 7, 2013, Lassie Viola Rippy, age 99, died peaceably in her home, as was her wish. Lassie was the youngest daughter of Charles Neal and Louella Rippy, one of twelve children. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings and is survived by four nephews and three nieces: Virgil Hammock and Don Q. Hammock of Westmoreland, Steve Rippy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Thomas Neal Rippy of Louisville, Kentucky, Francis Seavey of Nashville, Betty Wright of Portland, and Gail Mayfield of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Lassie never married and had no children of her own, but she helped raise her nephew Scott A. Rippy, Sr., and her great-niece, Sonya Rippy Troutt. She loved children and was a patient, kind, and loving playmate, babysitter, tutor, or whatever a child needed. Lassie was a second mother to her nephew Scott, and a second grandmother to his family. She will be especially missed by his family, including: Sonya and Keith Troutt, Doris Rippy, Laura and Nicky Booker, Cynthia and Philip Yankee, Scott Jr. and Debbie Rippy, James and Vicky Rippy, Lisa Rippy, Tracy and Phillip Hill, Stacey and Ben Crudup, Harold Ray Carter, as well as their children and grandchildren. Lassie will also be especially missed by her long-time, faithful caregiver, Peggy Poole, whom Lassie loved dearly.

Funeral services for Lassie Rippy will be conducted on Wed. Jan. 9th @ 2PM from the chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Emery officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, Jan 9th from 3PM-9PM and Wed. Jan 10th from 10AM-service time at Woodard Funeral Home.
