Tommie Cordell Henson

Tommie “Cordell” Henson, age 95, passed away Saturday, April 29^, 2023.

Tommie was born in Westmoreland, Tennessee to Clarence Henson and Lassie (Sullivan) Henson. He worked most of his life as a truck driver for the Standard Grocery Store Company. After his career at Standard, Tommie worked in maintenance at a couple of Holiday Inns in the Indianapolis area, including the former hotel at the Brickyard Crossing. While working for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway hotel he had the opportunity to meet many of the Indy 500 drivers who stayed at the hotel. One of note was AJ Foyt who would not call the front desk, but just go find Tommie when he needed something fixed.

Tommie loved bowling, playing golf and trips with his “sweetheart”, his wife of over 70 years, Chris Henson who preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter Carol Koser, son Jeff Henson, sisters Jean Purvine and Earlene Carter. Tommie also had 5 grandkids and numerous great grandkids and great-great grandkids.

Visitation will be at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, Franklin Township Chapel on Wednesday, May 3^rd from 4-8 pm. A graveside service will take place in Macon County, Tennessee on Friday, May 5^th at 11am at Eulia Cemetery with Bro. Leon Graves officiating.
